The best-in-class fun-filled water park will feature a lazy river attraction, wave pools, slides of all sizes, kiddie pools and a beach area for relaxing with shady landscaped areas to keep visitors cool. Miami Wilds is located adjacent to Zoo Miami giving families the opportunity to spend a half day at the zoo visiting with wildlife, and then cool off and chill the rest of the day at the water park.
Family Lodge Hotel
The 200-room family lodge hotel is designed for out-of-town families who want to spend a night or more in the area to visit South Dade attractions. In addition to world-class Zoo Miami, these include the historic Gold Coast Railroad Museum and the Miami Military Museum, two national parks (Everglades and Biscayne Bay) and other visitor venues in the neighboring Redlands and Homestead area.
An array of small unique retail shops will reflect the Miami Wilds and Zoo Miami outdoors theme for great shopping where visitors can take back more than just memories. In addition to small specialty shops, a variety of restaurants will offer an assortment of foods from quick service to sit-down venues.
Miami Wilds will provide a significant boost to the South Dade economy creating an estimated 304 jobs for area residents when it opens and 403 jobs when fully operational. Average salaries will be in excess of $35,000 per year. In addition, the project is committed to creating a skilled jobs training program for local job seekers in conjunction with local schools and colleges. Miami Wilds creates broad opportunities for local business enterprises to participate through a Small Business Enterprise partnership and vendor program during construction and in ongoing operations. Miami Wilds also will establish senior and retiree workforce outreach programs.
Miami Wilds fulfills a commitment made to South Dade residents to rebuild the area’s economy in wake of the devastating 1992 Hurricane Andrew that destroyed much of the local infrastructure and business base. With 45% of guests expected to be from out-of-town, Miami Wilds will have a significant impact on the area’s hospitality industry further strengthening South Dade’s position as a major tourist destination.
Miami Wilds will foster partnerships with neighboring organizations and educational institutions including employment and student internships in career and technical programs for hospitality management, culinary, events management and more. Other community-oriented efforts will include an advanced lifeguard training program, security patrols, partnerships with not-for-profit service agencies for fund raising as well as membership in local chambers and local economic development organizations so that Miami Wilds is a fully engaged member within the regional business community.
